This document explores how nowadays in Ecuador, the interculturality term is built and understood by Basic General Education for in this country, 14 nationalities and 18 pueblos coexist and share with people of mixed race, and precisely due to this, their multi-ethnic and multicultural conditions have been recognized. In order to decipher how this construction was accomplished twenty Ecuadorian constitutions were reviewed, so it is the number of constitutions which Ecuador has possessed from its independence in 1830 to the last one promulgated in 2008. In these documents, the birth and evolution of interculturality term is clearly showed. Expressions for instance Indians, Indolatinos, aboriginal languages, indigenous race, ethnic groups, community culture, and cultural ethnic diversity represent the basis of a country where the creation of contributory politics to reach the complete interculturality is fundamental.
