OPERACIÓN TRIUNFO: FROM TRADITIONAL TELEVISION TO SOCIAL NETWORKS

A new narrative model based on the use of multiple platforms was introduced when Internet became more accessible to people. For this reason, the strategy of television channels has changed in order to obtain higher rates, as well as evolved with the aim of having higher participation through social media. These changes have been observed while studying the comparison between Operación Triunfo (OT) 2017 and 2018. From a media convergence point of view, the content of two different platforms (television and Internet) has been analysed. Depending on the audience (young or classic), one medium or the other is preferred, but also both of them complement each other as television works as a condenser of information that can be watched in detail on the web. Regarding the interaction with the audience, the role of viewers as creators and disseminators of content through social networks has been studied, mainly by the use of YouTube and Twitter. Also, a series of interviews to young people, as well as an in-depth analysis of the available content, it has been proven that a large part of the success of the programme lies in the use of these social networks.
